Hubbard Glacier — Getting Closer to North America's Largest Tidewater Glacier

Hubbard Glacier is a scenic cruising highlight — your ship sails into Disenchantment Bay for views of the glacier's massive 6-mile-wide, 400-foot-tall face. The ship typically does a slow 360-degree turn so both sides get excellent views, spending 2–4 hours in the area.

Some cruise lines offer catamaran excursions that transfer you from the ship to a smaller vessel, getting you within a quarter mile of the glacier face — close enough to feel the cold air radiating off the ice and hear the thunderous calving events. For those staying on the ship, our viewing guide covers the best decks, timing, and photography tips to maximize the experience.
