Wrangell — Off the Beaten Path Alaska
Wrangell is the most authentic, least touristy cruise port in Alaska. With only a handful of ships stopping each week, you'll experience a real working Alaska fishing town without the cruise-port commercial overlay. The highlight is Anan Creek Bear Observatory, one of the best bear viewing sites in Southeast Alaska, accessible only by boat or floatplane.
Petroglyph Beach is a free, walkable attraction — ancient rock carvings along the shoreline that predate European contact by thousands of years. The town is small enough to explore entirely on foot in an hour.
